This is a beautiful Hummel figurine entitled "Puppy
Love" (mold #1) by Goebel of Germany. It features a young boy playing a violin
with a dog at his feet. It was first modeled by master sculptor Arthur Moeller
in 1935.
This figurine is mold #1 and it measures 5" tall. It has the sixth
trademark, dating the piece to between 1979-1991. The artist's initials "DA"
and the number "88" are written in script on the bottom. The number represents
the year (1988) when the figurine was created. It is in excellent condition
with no chips, cracks, or restorations. The 9th Edition (2003) of the Miller Price
Guide suggests a book value of USD $350-$375 for this figurine.
