This is a beautiful Hummel candleholder entitled "Lullaby"
(mold #24) by Goebel of Germany. It features and angel playing a mandolin
to a baby. It was first modeled by both Arthur Moeller and Reinhold Unger
in 1935.
There are 2 figurines available with different trademarks and different
sizes.
The first figurine is mold #24/I and it measures 4" tall. It has
the third trademark (stylized bee - shown above) dating the piece to between 1960-1972.
It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations.
The second figurine is mold #24/III and it measures a very large 6 ½"
tall. It has the sixth trademark (shown below) dating the piece to between 1979-1991.
The artist's initials and the number "79" are written in script on the bottom.
The number represents the year (1979) when the figurine was created. It is
in mint condition with no chips, cracks or restorations. This figurine may be purchased
for USD $500 or CDN $650 inclusive.
