This is a beautiful, authentic, finely carved cameo glass perfume
bottle by Gallé of France. Beginning in the 1880's European
glass-masters spearheaded a new artistic movement, the New Art (Art Nouveau).
Drawing upon natural forms and colors, combining technical skill with brilliance
of design, great artists and craftsmen created work which changed the perception
of the medium and is highly prized to this day. One of the greatest of these
innovators was Emile Gallé.
This perfume bottle features a gorgeous purplish- red (blood
red) floral and leaf pattern on a shaded red ground. The bottom shows a
polished pontil. This antique perfume bottle is dated to the early 1900's.
It is signed in cameo"Gallé" and measures 7 1/2"
tall.
This perfume bottle is in excellent condition with no chips,
cracks or restorations. For accuracy, there is wear to the plating of
the collar and the atomizer is missing.
